Rundown of my last days in Pennsylvania

Missing being at MCC Orientation, well, missing the folks that are spreading everywhere. This girl is hilarious (and the photographer, when he doesn't have his camera, or rather his "child" glued to his hip/eye, is pretty nice.)

And this girl's husband has the same name forgetfulness complex as me!

Not to forget all the other new friends that were there and amazing, the multiple Rachels, families, yeah...felt like a retreat.

Currently staying in two homes, Ali's and Jessica's, saying goodbyes, packing, hoping my car will sell in the next 7 days, getting back to running, and playing with massive dogs.

Finishing up a new book, Traveling Mercies by Anne Lamont: love her raw sense of self.

This weekend there is a last farewell of the Eastern cohort that will be happening at the NJ shore: Frisbee (which I will learn to catch and even aim and throw) & Football (unfortunately, this is actually with an American football). Maybe we can sneak a soccer ball, a game that doesn't involve catching for most players!!

One interesting thing I didn't know was even possible, charging 8 dollars a person to sit on a beach. True in New Jersey. But the lovely girls collecting the money let us slide since the day was already more than half over. Jess and I enjoyed a free day!

It looks as if I'll be flying back to Arkansas on Thursday if all goes well in the next few days. A bit overwhelmed and not fully comprehending what is left to do. Multiple to do lists being written.

One last thing: I spoke with my little brother, Alex, on the phone today. He sounds so grown and is only 4 1/2! He was telling me all about him wearing his bike helmet. Love that kid.

Actual last thing:

“Compassion is sometimes the fatal capacity for feeling what it is like to live inside somebody else's skin. It is the knowledge that there can never really be any peace and joy for me until there is peace and joy finally for you too.” Frederick Buechner
